FITNESS FRIDAY: Greek Yogurt Dessert

Hi Guys!

Welcome to the first of many Fitness Fridays!!! I hope you guys enjoy this first official post! Below is a video of my quick and easy recipe for a daytime snack or dessert replacement! This is so simple and delicious, I couldn’t get enough of it this week.

I stepped way outside of my comfort zone this week and attended a ZUMBA class with some friends. If you know me, then you know very well that I can’t dance and have very little coordination (although my husband begs to differ, God bless him). Anyway, I went with much hesitation. It was an hour long class and even though I couldn’t get all of the moves down as quickly as my friends, it was a fantastic workout and I did have a blast with them. I would even consider going again. Other than that I took a stroll or two with Riley around the neighborhood and thats about it.

Eating wise, other than this healthy meal replacement, my eating choices were miserable. It seems my problem is more so skipping meals when I know I shouldn’t be and I almost always eat an enormous dinner because I cook it almost every night. So backwards, I know. It’s all about baby steps though and any progress is good progress in my book.

So, for this coming week my goal is to exercise portion control, because I am not a fan of dieting. I’m also going to make it a point to exercise in some form at least twice this week. The goal is to get all the way to 4 times a week, by the end of the month.

  1. Hi Ayesha! I’m turning 21 next month. Coming from a family with history of diabetes and hypertension, I have to be very careful with what I eat. As much as possible, I try to eat healthy & organic food (like you). Excercise-wise, I do yoga thrice a week and I try to run at least once a week. I think you’ll enjoy working out at home too; you just need a yoga mat and workout videos. You have such a wonderful family. May God continuously bless you!

  3. Zumba is the best! Keep at it–it’s really the only fitness “class” I enjoy enough to keep going to. Even yoga couldn’t keep me committed, lol.

    I love pomegranate seeds (it’s a major player in one of my favorite desserts, a Vietnamese che called suong sa hat luu with coconut milk, jelly and mung bean–you should try that too!) but would never think to pair it with greek yogurt. Gonna give this a shot soon, thanks.

  4. Something good to snack on or if you need to skip a meal – nuts. Especially almonds and walnuts, but pistachios also good. I always keep some in my purse. Hope you’re having a fantastic time in China!

  5. I love working out with a friend… We keep each other motivated…

    I’ve started to eat healthy… If you’re a person who has a sweet tooth like me though, try making a smoothie with an apple to take away the bitterness from things such as kale…

    Also a great post workout smoothie when I’m craving something sweet is frozen bananas, almond milk, flaxseeds, chocolate protein and a little bit of peanut butter! Sooo good!
    You can also add rolled oats and use Carnation’s breakfast essentials chocolate powder instead of protein to get your vitamins in the morning.

  6. Sometimes I like to add chia seeds when I eat greek yogurt, fruit, and honey. It adds more substance when I need more energy.
