Hello Everyone !

I hope you’re all having a fantastic monday. I am currently back at home battling a nasty little fever and cough. Luckily I am the only one in the household doing so. It’s been a rough past couple of days trying to get back on a good sleep  schedule as there’s a 15 hour time difference for us between here in California and China. We’re slowly but surely getting back into the swing of things. I must say though that Riley has been an absolute trooper through all of it.

China was a blast. We visited Beijing and Shanghai. The two cities were extremely different from each other. Beijing  like D.C and Shanghai like NYC (or vegas). Both were beautiful and had different things to offer. We visited the Great Wall! I was so happy that we were able to do it as a family, I carried Riley the whole way in a back carrier. She was so good about it and I got a nice little workout in too!

We also got to tour the Forbidden City. That was super cool. Did you know that the emperors had concubines?! like, 70+?! Yikes !

We got to do a little bit of shopping and bartering in the Silk Market. That was fun but stressful at the same time. I came out a better haggler though thats for sure!

Stephen had two Under Armour appearances that we attended. The turnout was amazing! It was so cool to see all of the fans that came out. They presented us with an authentic tea set! I can’t wait to use it.

The only thing I regret about the trip is not getting to try some authentic Chinese cuisine, all of our food was very americanized. I guess that’s just another reason to go back!

Overall, the trip was fantastic and I was so happy to have Stephens family there with us to experience it all. We left with two wins and a new appreciation for different cultures and an even better appreciation for our home. We love to travel but are so so so happy to be back in our own home.

Have any of you ever been to China? I’d love to hear about your experiences!

Here are a couple of photos from our trip! Enjoy!

  1. Yes I went to China last year! It was so fun! Got to do all those things and go to the silk market and bargin with the people. Super fun!! And the Great Wall, who knew it wasn’t a ramp? I always thought it was a ramp and not steps. Those steps kicked my butt hard! Glad you guys are back and hope all is well! I stayed at the JW marriott while we were there. Really nice hotel. And China is amazing! I want to go back again soon!

  2. Went to China summer of 2011 and spent most of the time in Shanghai and I LOVED it!!! Favorite part definitely was the food and hanging out and getting to know people so that’s really sad you couldn’t taste the cuisine but cool you got to meet some people :-). Most interesting part though? Riding on the subway. So. Many. People. Personal Bubble was definitely popped when I was in Shanghai. Did you get to experience that?

  3. Your trip sounded exciting. No, have never been to China. Would like to but probably never will. Can’t afford it. Most of us don’t have the luxury of having millions of dollars nor do most people get all expense paid trips.
