You Don’t Have To Try

This morning my heart is full! I’ve spent the last 30 mins with my face drenched and my kleenex box empty. Tightly holding on to Riley, telling her how much I love her and admiring every inch of this little human being. We live in a society where it’s so hard to be a woman, heck it’s hard to be a man… socially speaking. We spend so much time trying to perfect ourselves, make ourselves feel presentable and beautiful. With social media today and a countless number of “skin perfecting” apps ┬áit becomes impossible to feel good about yourself, or to feel “pretty”. I’ve fallen victim to these feelings more times than I am proud to say. If you haven’t, that’s great but I have and felt the need to pour out my heart today. This video I watched today of one of my favorite songs, by one of my favorite artists put everything into perspective for me. It became clear to me that we all feel the SAME, no matter our position in life or physical appearance. We all have insecurities. I began staring at my daughter wondering what she will have to endure as she grows older. What insecurities will she have and how can I stop this from happening. Ultimately I believe it is somewhat inevitable, but what I can do and what we should all do is simply BE THERE for one another, ENCOURAGE each other. We need to lift each other up on a consistent daily basis, instead of putting each other as women down, at the end of the day we are all the same. “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Us as women are so judgmental to other women and the people around us just as much as we are to ourselves! Let’s stop it. If you like someone’s shoes, let them know. If you think someone is beautiful, tell them. You never know how you can change a persons day and overall well being with a simple compliment or word of encouragement. Anyway, I am rambling now and really just wanted you all to watch the video. It’s beautiful and speaks for itself. Grab some tissues and hold your loved ones close.
